Research

The Australian Red Cross Blood Service has a proud history of innovative and exciting research and development. Such ingenuity is essential for ensuring the Blood Service provides a safe and high quality service to the community.

Our research efforts in the Research and Business Development Division support the Blood Service mission and ensure the best use of our core strengths, intelligence and scientific expertise.

The role of the Research Division is to develop and deliver a high-performance, collaborative and outcomes-based operational, fundamental and clinical research and business development capacity for the Blood Service.

We are equally focused on satisfying the needs of internal and external customers by building high-value, strategic research and business partnerships with collaborators, clients, suppliers and key stakeholders.

To achieve these aims, the research team:

  • maintains a balanced national research program
  • focuses on high quality collaborative projects, and
  • strengthens the current and future safety of the Blood Service through the implementation of progressive, scientific processes and technological innovations.
