We are always looking for ways to make a greater contribution to Australian healthcare

The demand for plasma continues to grow, given its vital role in many lifesaving medical treatments.

With demand increasing, it’s important we secure our local supply. And so, we established our first two dedicated plasma collections centres, one in the ACT and one in Townsville, Queensland.

In 2018 we were excited to launch Australia’s first Milk Bank, to collect and pasteurise donor breast milk and distribute it to neonatal units, specifically for premature babies, in New South Wales and South Australia  with other states soon to follow.

Applying our biological know-how and utilising our infrastructure in new frontiers has created opportunities to make a greater contribution to Australian healthcare. To recognise this, in November 2019 we changed our name to Australian Red Cross Lifeblood.

We’re proud of our strong history of helping provide life-saving products to Australians and we can’t wait to see what the next 90 years holds!
