Helen O'Brien
Senior Research Assistant
Helen trained in Biochemistry, Microbiology and Public Health. She has held several scientific roles within Lifeblood since 1995.
Within Research and Development, Helen develops and evaluates non-invasive prenatal tests using circulating cell free fetal DNA found in maternal blood. These tests are used to predict a baby’s risk of developing a condition called Haemolytic Disease of the Fetus and Newborn (HDFN). These studies form part of an exciting clinical collaboration with translational outcomes in the transfusion medicine setting.
