Dr Lacey Johnson

Dr Lacey Johnson is a principal research scientist within the Product Development and Storage group at the Australian Red Cross Lifeblood.
She completed her PhD at The University of New South Wales, which focussed on understanding the mechanisms leading to the maturation of megakaryocytes, which are the parent cell of platelets. This led to her current role at the Lifeblood where her primary focus is improving the quality of platelets for transfusion, through the use of cryopreservation and refrigeration techniques.
Lacey has a strong track record of achievement having authored more than 20 peer-reviewed publications, supervised 10 successful honours and summer students and has received numerous national and international awards/grants.
